Job Description:
The Control System Application Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing new control system application software (PLC, SCADA, Operator Interface, etc.). Responsibilities include HMI and PLC application development based on project specifications and/or requirements. HMI screen development, interfacing systems to SQL databases and field devices, generating complex reports, trending and alarm displays, and developing PLC control algorithms by company QA/QC standards.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
-Works with Project Manager to determine the appropriate technical implementation of application requirements.
-Works with Project Manager to coordinate workload and deliverables.
-Planning, developing, and commissioning new HMI and PLC application software.
-Designs/develops HMI screens
-Designs/develops HMI background objects and scripts.
-Designs/develops HMI system communications architecture.
-Designs/develops PLC application software
-Develops documentation for associated deliverables.
-Troubleshoot problems involving signal errors, communications, and data reporting
-Commission and test new HMI and PLC application software.
-Troubleshoot problems related to HMI and PLC application software.
-Works with all project team members to communicate technical requirements and ensure implementation is following approved designs and appropriate standards.
– Participating in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and management project issues.
-Ensure effective engineering and Client communications
-Coordinate with Project Manager to determine documentation requirements and develops project-specific documentation.
Qualifications:
-Bachelorโs Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
-PLC and SCADA Programming
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Have the ability to work with minimal supervision to develop and implement standard programming practices, as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completion
-Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation and testing, and startup.
-Read electrical schematics
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
-Standing for extended periods of time.
-Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate hand/power tools, computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.
-Physically able to travel to job sites to perform panel installation or modifications, assist in the startup of panel and instrumentation systems
-Extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. This may include weekdays, weekends, or holidays. May be assigned to work at a Clientโs facility or site for an extended period of time.
-While performing this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
-Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
